Program Structure
Patients are offered individualized care plans developed through a comprehensive assessment process and ongoing clinical review. The functional medicine approach is typically implemented over time and may involve multiple strategies, periodic reassessment, and adjustments based on clinical findings and patient preferences.
Given the longitudinal nature of this approach, patients are generally asked to commit to an initial six-month care program, which allows sufficient time for assessment, implementation, monitoring, and review of the care plan. The duration and structure of care are determined collaboratively, taking into account each patient’s medical history, clinical needs, and personal health goals.

How much do the services cost?
Ontario’s publicly funded health care system (OHIP) is designed primarily to support the diagnosis and treatment of acute illness and established disease. While this model plays an essential role in medical care, it does not typically include services focused on preventive, proactive, or optimization-based approaches to health.
Our practice takes a comprehensive, functional medicine approach that emphasizes in-depth assessments, personalized care, and advanced testing aimed at identifying root causes and supporting long-term health and vitality. Many of these services, including extended physician consultation time and specialized investigations, are not considered “medically necessary” under current OHIP criteria and are therefore not covered by the provincial health plan.
Some patients may be eligible for partial reimbursement through extended health insurance plans or Health Spending Accounts (HSAs). Patients are responsible for confirming coverage with their insurer. A detailed receipt will be provided for submission to private insurance where applicable.
